QUIET COASTAL RETREAT

A sun-swept rear yard with a gentle slope toward a forested hillside sets the tone for this serene coastal landscape. TFLA collaborated with Kristi Will Designs to make gathering and outdoor living an integral part of the clients’ everyday experience.

The natural grade presented an opportunity to subtly terrace the land, introducing an orchard with strolling paths and a layered garden experience that extends beyond the main gathering spaces. The primary terrace, centered around a fire pit, is thoughtfully oriented toward the outdoor kitchen and dining area, where a custom cantilevered arbor with integrated heaters and lighting provides comfort and structure.

These architectural elements are balanced by surrounding garden plantings arranged in organic forms, creating distinct zones for outdoor cooking, dining, and relaxation while maintaining a cohesive connection to the landscape.

The result is an outdoor environment that encourages movement, exploration, and a deeper connection to the natural setting.
