CITY ESCAPE

Centered on the theme of city living, this comprehensive garden renovation by TFLA transforms a compact San Francisco property into a dynamic outdoor environment for entertaining, gathering, cooking, and relaxation. Early in the design process, the entry sequence was identified as awkward, while the front patio’s southern exposure and sweeping city views revealed an untapped opportunity.

The space was reimagined with a fire pit, water feature, and comfortable garden furnishings, creating an inviting setting for social gatherings. Working within the constraints of a tight urban site, the design team introduced a series of thoughtful, multi-functional solutions, including an outdoor kitchen positioned adjacent to the home’s interior kitchen and a custom turntable parking platform with stone inlay that preserves essential parking access.

In collaboration with Kristi Will Designs and Diamond Spas, a dedicated wellness area was also incorporated for yoga and relaxation. Anchored by a spa that doubles as a sculptural water feature, the space offers a quiet counterpoint to the surrounding city.

The result is a refined outdoor living environment that elevates the experience of modern urban living.
