BEACH COTTAGE
The landscape at this Stinson Beach retreat was designed to feel less like a yard and more like a natural extension of the coast itself. Because when your backyard is the beach, anything else would feel like an insult to the address.
TFLA approached the site with the same restraint and intentionality driving the architectural renovation, honoring the rugged, salt-air character without competing with it. Plant selection leans native and coastal-adapted, grounding the project in its very specific sense of place.
A hot tub, fire pit, lounge area, and surfside shower create distinct moments of gathering and retreat, while the rear garden spills naturally toward the home, blurring where architecture ends and land begins.
The result is a space that works as hard as it relaxes. Very Stinson Beach.
